Net Zero Policy

Purpose: This policy outlines MCS Healthcare’s commitment to achieving net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. Our aim is to reduce our carbon footprint, enhance sustainability, and contribute positively to global climate change mitigation efforts.

Scope: This policy applies to all operations, employees, contractors, and stakeholders associated with MCS Healthcare.

Commitment: MCS Healthcare is committed to:

  1. Measuring and Monitoring: Regularly measure and monitor our GHG emissions across all operations.

  2. Reduction Strategies: Implement strategies to significantly reduce GHG emissions.

  3. Renewable Energy: Transition to renewable energy sources where feasible.

  4. Sustainable Practices: Promote sustainable practices in procurement, production, and logistics.

  5. Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with stakeholders to support and promote sustainability initiatives

Counting Carbon:

To reduce, emissions, we first need to understand our own corporate carbon footprint. Greenhouse gas emission typically fall into one of the following three categories:

Being part of the Solution
At MCS Healthcare, we are committed to addressing the pressing issue of climate change by reducing our corporate emissions. Our ultimate goal is to achieve net-zero emissions across all scopes by 2050. This strategy outlines our comprehensive plan, detailing our commitments, short-term practices, and long-term goals to ensure we are part of the solution.

Long-Term Vision
2050 Goal: Net-Zero Emissions Across All Scopes
Our overarching goal is to achieve net-zero emissions across all scopes (Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3) by 2050. This ambitious target requires a strategic approach, continuous innovation, and collaboration with stakeholders, including employees, customers, and partners.

2030 Interim Goal: Net-Zero Operational Emissions (Scope 1 & 2)
As a critical milestone, we aim to achieve net-zero operational emissions (Scope 1 and Scope 2) by 2030. This will serve as a foundation for our broader net-zero target and demonstrate our commitment to significant progress in the near term.

Short-Term Practices and Commitments
To drive immediate impact and pave the way towards our long-term goals, we have implemented several short-term practices:
1.Cycle to Work Scheme
oWe encourage employees to reduce their carbon footprint by cycling to work. This initiative not only promotes health and well-being but also contributes to lower emissions from commuting.
2.Electric Car Charging Points
oOur office is equipped with electric car charging points, supporting employees who choose electric vehicles and promoting the adoption of clean transportation.
3.Elimination of Single-Use Items
oWe have removed single-use cups and plates from our office and replaced them with reusable dining sets. This reduces waste and encourages a culture of sustainability.
4.Paperless Culture
oWe promote a paperless culture by printing only what is necessary and essential. All colleague communications and files are stored and shared digitally, reducing paper consumption and waste.
5.Recyclable Waste System
oOur organization operates an environmentally friendly recyclable waste system, with appropriate bins for recyclable materials and food waste. This ensures proper disposal and recycling of office waste.
6.Virtual Meetings
oWe have rolled out Teams as the default application for meetings that are not required to be face-to-face. This reduces travel expenses and significantly cuts down our carbon footprint associated with business travel.
7.Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
oOur EAP includes discounts on energy-efficient tools such as smart meters. This encourages our employees to become more aware of their own energy usage and adopt energy-saving practices at home.

Timeline and Progress Tracking
To ensure accountability and track our progress towards net-zero emissions, we have established a clear timeline with specific interim goals:

2024-2025: Complete an overview assessment on electricity carbon emissions opting to switch to LED lighting and expand the cycle to work scheme.
2026-2027: Achieve a 50% reduction in paper usage and enhance our digital communication platforms. Ensure all Company vehicles supplied are electric only.
2028-2029: Implement advanced recycling and waste reduction programs, aiming for zero waste to landfill.
2030: Achieve net-zero operational emissions (Scope 1 & 2).

We will regularly review and update our strategy to incorporate new technologies, best practices, and feedback from stakeholders.

Conclusion
At MCS Healthcare, we are dedicated to being part of the solution to climate change. Through our comprehensive net-zero strategy, we are taking bold steps to reduce our emissions, promote sustainability, and inspire others to join us in this critical mission. Together, we can achieve a sustainable future for generations to come.
